As the title says. It certainly does, as some of you are aware I've been chasing someone to do my swivel hubs. After many calls around to all the regular 4x4 and off road specialists I have finally found honesty. All places I called for complete kit through hubs, (gaskets seals bearings etc) wanted around the $900 mark, jeesh a man could get a new car for that lol, anyway a mate referred me to his mech' who he takes his 4b too. So gave this fella a call and a day to sort a price for me, just got off the phone to him and bugga me, he has halved the price from all others $460 for a complete kit (fitted), when I queried the price he laughed and said is it a bit cheaper than you have been quoted, for sure, he said we're to help people out not to rip them off. Done! And before Easter too, piece of mind for me heading away.
So guys, SHOP AROUND, it pays off

Wow!! That is super cheap!!! Has he done it before? If he has not then I bet you are the last one he will ever do at that price!!

It will take him the better part of a Full Day to strip, clean, pack and refit the new kit!! At $200 for the kit wholesale his day rate is very low!

Take him a case of beer at pickup mate! He is looking after you.

Should put his contact details up for others

Far out that price is ridiculous! Took me and a mechanic mate a full day to do mine. $900 is a fair price in my opinion, it's a dirty, crappy job I hope I don't have to do it again.

Yer Daz, he says he's done it before and did make mention of the time consuming task ahead, how ever time will tell. Worth a go at that figure, and my mate has had no issues with his work. Will keep you posted.

Kris I don't care if he has it for 2 days at that price. We will see if he's worthy of a gold star when he's done.

Well it's time to report on the swivel reco, dropped it off last night so he had it for the whole day today, bit of a shock, no pretty little workshop, quite the opposite, dirty cluttered messy lookin place, but i must say I am over the moon with the outcome.
Hubs are done and the ol girl drives like a dream. Couldn't be happier and yes a big gold star to my new mechanic,
Cost a bit more than originally quoted as the bearings were done and were not in the quote and both diffs topped up, but still came in $300 cheaper than the nearest rival. And I must admit the under side of the Trol looks brand spankin new. I am wrapped.
Total cost for swivel hub reco + bearings and diffs topped up, $630.
Still a bloody bargain.

So any southerners lookin for a cheap 4x4 mech here is a plug.

All wheel drive,
Whittington st Enfield.
Phone 0418844795
Contact is Howard

I will definately recommend him and will certainly be using him again. Will be dropping off a bott of scotch to him next week as a token of my appreciation.
He also recommended a couple of things that will need att soon.

Whoo hoo bring on Easter break

Exactly!!!!

I don't mind a bloke earning a living, but to blatently rip people off, is not fair.

My local mechanic does a fantastic job, but it's been 3 months and I still haven't got a bill and I'm less than 1k from my next service! Far out!!
