The story makes me sick to the stomach. I have an older relative fighting the cancer caused by inhaling asbestos. Years ago, I have found a pile of sheeting dumped in the nearby forest. I haven't reported it, because after a fire went through, I couldn't find the track, and the undergrowth has obliterated the whole area.

I paid $12 a ton a couple of year ago at the local tip. I had to wrap the stuff up in two layers of sealed plastic. Glad to get rid of the stuff off the property.

I dare say it would be a bit more these days as standard tips don't take asbestos anymore but by the looks it wasn't all asbestos either
