In the Gregorys manual for the GU it says to check the level of grease in the front hub swivel hubs and top up if necessary, should be 3/4 full. How is this done please?

No Way! Really?

maybe the Diff Oil but not the swivel Hub Grease! the grease is packed and not running at all.

Please head over to the Introduction section and post an introduction thread thanks mate.

I think some put a grease nipple there to achieve it............but if you are losing grease, its an oil grease mix that needs repair.

Thanks NP99, A friend noticed that the swivel hubs looked dry and there is a faint dark stain around the bottom of the housing. He said to top up the grease (his toyota has a plug for that). The diff is full of oil.

Thanks Mudrunner, The Gregorys page 246, Section 13 part 2, under oil leakage says "check the level of grease in the swivel hubs and top up if necessary. The manufacturer recommends that they be maintained three quarters full of grease".

Hi mate, as requested please head over to the introduction section and post an intro. We ask all new members to post a Hello thread before asking for advice.

Unfortunately your friend is an Idiot! the Swivel Hub should be dry to touch and therefore no Dust and Grime will stick to it. If it is wet then you have an oil leak. The Oil will be Diff oil. Not Grease.

If you have an inner Axle seal leak then the diff oil will leak out to the swivel hub and wash out your wheel bearings and wash out all your good grease. Grease will not flick off or break down generally and if its there thnen it should be there still. we dont burn it and it wont leak out! no Top up s required.

Thanks Mudrunner, The Gregorys page 246, Section 13 part 2, under oil leakage says "check the level of grease in the swivel hubs and top up if necessary. The manufacturer recommends that they be maintained three quarters full of grease".

This is an Error in the book! can you print the page here or take a pic of the page with your phone and post here using Tappatalk?

Pleas post an introduction mate.

Cheers MR
