Guys,

After some advice. About two months ago I fueled up my Patrol at a Caltex, straight after I left the servo the truck started to jerk randomly and I blamed it on a bad batch of diesel fuel. I started filling up with BP ultimate and the problem started to subside.

On the recent minor service I installed a Provent 200 and a RACOR Fuel system with a better filtration than the Factory one (2 microns), I've also started to use the Chemtech Power Diesel additive and noticed a difference in performance and engine noise. I still get a minor jerk every now and then but with less intensity.

How long can it take to recover from a bad quality Diesel? When I installed the RACOR the old filtration system didn't show anything unusual. I had the MAF sensor checked and it's OK. Should I check the TPS in the pedal body? If it's mildly improving I wouldn't suspect the TPS. There are no fault codes so far.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Willkenobi

I noticed you added a 2 micron filter but have you replaced the fuel filter yet, if it was bad fuel I would replace ASAP.

I replaced the factory filtration system with a RACOR 230R with new 2 micron filter.

Guys,

Decided to take off the pedal assembly and gave a good clean with the MAF sensor cleaner I have. Fixed the jerking problem but now I have an engine light on. I reset the computer but nothing. Any ideas?

No luck, will take to the dealer this week, it's still under warranty.

If you have a friend who has a GU, try borrowingthe MAF sensor to see if engine check light will still glow. Even if you have changed all the fuel, air and oil filters the check engine light will still glow with a defective MAF sensor.

Thanks Alexx, I'll try it; what bothers me is the light came on after I cleaned the pedal assembly.

Cheers!

I've been at the dealer since 07:00 am this morning. Advised them the problem was the pedal assembly but they spent the whole morning checking the wiring and came to me about an hour ago with the conclusion that the problem was the pedal assembly Only good thing is I didn't go to the office today

Problem was fixed with a new pedal assembly covered by the extended warranty. Very glad to have my girl back the way she used to be.

At first they were pretty stubborn and trying to convince me it was a wiring problem. After 4 hours they had to admitted and changed the unit.

I know, I only took it there to use the warranty. By the way, if anyone is looking for Diesel Mechanic Specialist in the Brisbane North I recommend ONOFF4X4 in Brendale. Recently installed the Provent 200 and the RACOR 230 series Fuel Filter System to my Patrol and he was top notch. Also booked the 80K service with him but ended up only doing a minor service, everything was in good condition even a 0% humidity in the brake fluid line and he told me it was not worth to do the major service. I'm pretty sure I would have been told differently by the dealer.
