View Full Version : Power wire threw fire wall on passenger side

I am putting my fridge on the passenger side of my q, and with the new second battery also on that side, it seams a waste to run from one side of the car to the other, and then back again at the fridge.
But I can't seem to find a spot to run wire threw the fire wall. I can't find a gromet..
What have you guys done?

Hey mate - if you can't find a grommet (I don't have a Q) then no issue with running cable across and back - just use a decent gauge so you don't ge voltage drop. Find a loom that runs in the general direction and follow it until you find your penetration.

I just drilled a hole and put a grommet in fir the uhf.
You can get those packets if various size grommets cheaply enough, then you've got spare ones for everything else in the car

There is a big double grommet down low on the passenger side of the firewall? That's where I ran cables on the party bus. Taped a nail to the cable and poked it through

Well I ran it today. Quite simple once you peel back the covers.
There is a grommet behind the 1/4 panel for the side indicator, elec areal etc to enter the cabin. So poped it into the 1/4 panel space in top back corner, and threw the grommet (this takes some doing due to limited space between frame and shell) and then continued threw the car under door seals as normal.
Ill just wire the drive in atm, and put more in as I go. would love hall affect sensor to monitor amp draw, be that's a touch outta my budget atm..

Been told about a shunt, but struggling to find info on how they work and basic setups to monitor.
