Hi all - I have a GU 2.8l Manual TD Y61 which I have owned since new 1998. Problem experienced is that the seat belt (drivers side front) will no longer retract, I need to manually push it into the slot - which is a pain.
Any similar problems or hints on what the problem would be ???

Wayne,
Try cleaning the Top Seatbelt Mount on the pillar. If you lift up the belt, you will find that it will be all gummed up between the belt and the loop it goes through, which when cleaned up will have you retracting again in no time at all.

X 2 plus you could use some emery tape there as well.
other than that cost is $350 ish for a new pair

Cleaning the belts with hot soapy water will help too to get rifd of any residues on the belt itself.
To Threedogs - I would suggest the OP to try cleaning the belt and mount first, and then fine grit sandpaper last of all ( Don't want grooves and scratches in the plastic, otherwise it will keep on catching )

X3 cleaning. My work ranger was terrible until i was told how to sort it. The buckle nearly had my eye out the first use after cleaning:D

You're right !! Don't know why it didn't work. Just use the search function - cuts out the middle man that way!
