G'day
I may have introduced myself some time ago, but since it's such a long time, here is another.

Bought the Patrol a few years ago now - it's done 175000km and keeps on going.

Just needs servicing, but I am going to do something about this 5000km oil change requirement. It would be cheaper to run a V8 petrol in it and have oil changes at 10000km. Maybe a blank somewhere may help.

Replaced the shocks with IronMan foam cell. OK I guess - suppose I was after a greater difference, but they work well.

Cant see a V8 being cheaper to run than a ZD30, why not change oil every 10,000
and filters every 5,000,
theres only 15 to 20 cents difference in fuel prices if that.
Have I missed your point???

Peter,

There is no need to change the oil and filters every 5000Klms - with the same engine in Europe they do 15000klms between services.

Our conditions are not that much worse than theirs.

Do them at 10000klms as it says in the Nissan Australian Service Book, and you will be right.

I used to change my GU111 ZD30 every 5000 but with the engine rebuild i have to take it back to the rebuilders for services every 10,000. as Mic said, thats what Nissan say to do.
Welcome mate.
