I have a 24v sd33 Mq, I am trying to wire up a cd player in her. Through my investigations on the net I have read that the factory stereo wire for the 24v Mq's is actually 12v.... Is this correct and if so whats the colour of the factory power wire ( accessory feed)? Also, I have read the cigarette lighter runs off the same wire, is this true and does that mean the lighter is 12v aswell? Sorry, new to not only Patrols but to the 24v setup. The manual I have is proving to be as useful as tits on a bull and my Mq is missing its fuse board cover so I dont even know whats what.

Found a diagram on the net guys. All good. May need some extra advise on the 12v converter soon though

I don't think the MQs had a factory fitted 24 volt reducer to run the 12 volt radio and cigarette lighter.

If they did, I doubt it will be big enough to run a CD player.

I'm pretty sure they just tapped into one battery. You will be better off purchasing a 24 volt reducer and running your CD player and lighter from this.

Otherwise you are going to have battery problems.

I have just put a cd player in my 24v patrol and yes the stereo wire was 12v , cant remember what colour it was though . I can have a look later on and let you know , i've yet to test the cig lighter as to wether thats 12v or 24v.

Yeah I have an old MQ shorty. It's old and rough but I'm fairly certain it has a 24volt to 12 volt reducer but the previous owner had put the cd player to one battery so it keeps f ing the batteries.
The light globes in it are all 12volt.

Im yet to investigate yet thanks guys, been painting but I did read in a wire diagram online that there is a 12v wire for the cig lighter and also the stereo. I think it said that the cig lighter, the interior light and the stereo run 12v, the rest is 24. I am going to find out what this previous bloke has done and try to recify it, then I can run my spotlights and the constant for both the cd player and amp from the 12v converter and ditch the push button idea the last bloke had used.
paints done ( almost) and I have to do an oil change, fuel filter, fit the new vinyl floor covering and then get into this stereo.
Ill keep you all posted and will get off my butt soon and write a build thread.
