Hi,
I ordered a drive belt and hose kit from 'Kingswood Country' in Melbourne for my TD42 GQ but the Drive belts are too long. The A/C compressor belt is way too long, the Power Steering belt I can just about get away with but its on its max adjustment and though I can't test the alternator belt (waiting for new one) this one also looks too long. Anyone else experienced this?

This is the set:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/350696236071?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

The 'part numbers' are:
13A1270
13A0980
13A1145

Thx
Tony

13A1270 = Fan & power steering
13A1145 = Alternator

and

13A0980 = Air conditioner

They are the correct numbers for your vehicle. Unless the Pulleys have been change at some point in it's life, which is possible with buying a new alternator or a/c pump. I'm outta idea's.

FWIW - Don't believe what is written in the manufacturers catalogues, it's not just that seller. I bought a set of belts for my GU. All Bosch as listed in the Bosch catalogue. Two didn't fit (too long) & one went on, but was hard to get on because it was a tad short. I complained to Bosch & told them what I thought the correct size was & they sent me some replacements of the sizes I'd specified ..... & they fitted well. I advised them that they needed to change their catalogue info, but it may be that there are differences between the same models, just as there are with oil filters.

The belts that do actually fit my '06 GU 4.2TDi are:
Air Con -13A0965
Alternator 13A1145 (1150 would be better)
Power Steering 13A1230 * note 1245 would also fit.

Well, I went to Mals and got the following Bosch belts which fitted a treat:

13A1255 = Fan & power steering
13A0965 = Air conditioner

The 13A1145 that came from Ebay may still fit. Am still waiting for my Alternator to turn up...

In case anyone is not aware (I wasn't until I got belts that didn't fit & had to suss things out a bit more) the last 4 numbers are the length of the belt in millimetres. e.g., 13A1145 is 1145mm long. The 13A signifies the type of belt. I expect most here already knew that, but it might help having it written here for someone in the future.

13A tells you that the top section of the belt is 13mm...

Shit I think TD is right. I should know this, I was a Gates wholesaler a few years back. OT, I see Gates now list a tensioner for the 3ltr Di's. As per good job their R & D team have always done, its dearer than OEM. *facepalm* :clapping:

Gates normally use the old imperial sizes for their part number i.e 13A1270 is a Gates 9500, the 9 denotes the width = 13mm, and the 500 denotes it's 95.0 inch in outside length. If it were a 11A1270 it would be a 7500. The trupower belts are the cheapest automotive belts in the Gates range. Then it goes to their Auto V belts, like the 9500 and then onto the Fleetrunner range. Which are stronger again. I used to sell shit loads of Fleetrunners to bus mobs for their squealing A/C's. They do the Fleetrunner in the serpentine range to which I am going to try out.

And just to conclude, the 13A1145 from ebay did fit. So who in Perth wants to buy a:

13A1270
13A0980
