I hear big things about putting a turbo on an rb30 engine, I know insurance companies dont care much about putting a turbo on a diesel but doing so to a petrol motor, does it cause problems with road worth or insurance etc? does it need a mod plate etc ?

Will increase insurance and you will need to get it mod plated. Won't use any less fuel than a 4.2 petrol either.

ckh the RB30 is a pretty tough engine and can take some serious punishment. Are you going to EFI it then go the VL turbo route ? I'm led to believe that EFI'ing it is useful for power/torque increases and if you use your own block it's still the original engine-officer!!!
