any answer would be great
cheers a-j

Have you checked the main earths?
How did you test for power at the fuse box, starter motor and ignition switch?
What type and rating of inline fuse did you use to replace the fusible links? Have you double checked these aren't blown?

A couple of issues, maybe.
By power at the starter you mean the main supply to the solenoid? There should also be switched power at the little terminal when key is turned to start. Is this what you mean.
At a guess, try looking for a main supply wires from the bat +ive. A live wire, via a link needs to go to the ignition directly, so it can then activate other circuits.
If ya dash ain't workin' etc & ya starter ain't turnjn id say a main supply to ignition and or dash fuse panel is not connected. there is usually a main wire that runs, via a fuses link, into the firewall via relay panel or something that will supply voltage.
Have a good look around. If nothing is loose, missing or removed then you might have to check deeper.
I'm assuming the car was running ok, but it may have had some work recently.
There are numerous thing that can make a starter not function, but generally a few simple things if it was running fine recently.
Keep us in the loop. Even if it is really stupid. Got an alarm system?
If you were closer, I'd be happy to drop by.

hi guys
yer i got a work shop manul and i replaced the links with the right amperage and i have power behind fuse box and relays i disconected the second battery thinking it may be an earth folt from that but no luck, i have removed the arlam system so its not that its got me pulling my hair out tryed all the fuses and relays tested the batterys they are at full charge and over 800cca

When you removed the alarm did you reconnect the cut ignition wires and possible start wires as well?

yer did that, it was all spliced into the harnes so it made it a bit easyer and i reconected the earth to the factory one not the one the arlam was connected too

With the key turned to the on position (ignition) I need to know if you have power at the positive side of the ignition coil.

hi, yes i have power at both sides of coil i dont think i should but.

That's good, your points will be open.
You need to check fuse 5 and 6 in the fusebox inside the vehicle. Looking at the fusebox the row on the left hand side counting down. Should be a 15 amp and a 10 amp fuse.
With the ignition on, are they blown? do they have power in them?
Is your vehicle an auto or manual?

have poer at fuses both sides and at relays and the car is manual

This is a strange one, how are you checking the power?

with a test light, picking up the earth from the main earth wire to body and motor

Leaving the earth wire for your test light connected in the same place what happens if you touch the test light on the engine block? With ignition switch on. Does it light up?
ajsims

yes the test light lite up

You have an earthing problem.
If you have jumper leads connect one end to the negative battery terminal and the other end to the engine block.
Does the vehicle start now?
Double check you have the battery connected the right way first.

Good stuff, make sure you also have an earth lead that goes from the negative battery terminal and connects onto the inner guard.

Adding extra earth cable-s can improve things, especially if you have a computer, efi systems.
It's the first thing done in the performance market.
To the extent of multiple earth points around the engine block/head to a common point and then a single return to battery.
You may not physically notice a difference, but your electrical system just might.
ebay pic generic kit $20 inc del
diy--dearer but you make to suit your exact wants.
Quality tinned copper cable, soldered joints and shrink tube is a good starting point.
just remember do not to play with the computers internal earths, some of these could be actual switching circuits and you will blow the computer up instead.
cheers
