Whaddya reckon for rick sliders/steps, powdercoat or paint? The powder I assume, would be more durable but the paint easier to touch up once scratched.
Thoughts?

Oh I have no time to make them!
Reviewing the options to buy......that DRC mob use kill rust paint (easier to touch up) and was wondering if it was satisfactory.

Paint gets my vote. Powder coating will be a waste.

Paint, my sliders had been powder coated but once you have a small scratch on them the water gets in and peels the powder coating off

Suppose any of those GALVET style spray cans would be fine for touch up.
I have 2" x "MYLAR" tape to give some protection

Now I'm trying to decide if I ought to go with the bare bones slider or go for more of a step style...does one give any more protection that the other?
What have you guys got?

That's what I was thinking, the extra functionality if the step might be better.....

Slider type is stronger but less practical. Especially with kids as roofy has said.

I have the non step style by Bolseys, they have slightly better clearance than the steps, and i like the look of them better, kids can still use them as a step no problem, and you can stand on them to wash the roof.

I went paint at first, but found that on a decent beach trip (something i like to do often) the paint gets sandblasted off the bars that run across ways on the sliders, places that are hard to get to, and places you never scrape , this instantly goes rusty on the beach.

I have now gone to powdercoat to stop this, sure it will scrape off the very bottom on rocks, and still need a touch up, but the bottom is easy to get to.

So go Powdercoat or something like the two pack paint if you do a lot of beach work.

Also, some people hate the grip tape, if you happen to drag your skin/leg on it getting in or out, that stuff will draw blood, none of my family (youngest is 5) have slipped off our sliders (even in the wet) without any tape.
