Well I'm lucky enough to get a gig doing Tarmac Control Operations at the Avalon Airshow again this year and have full vehicle Tarmac access for the next week.

So.... Funny story.


My main role at the Airshow is as a fire guard during aircraft refueling.

Put signs up. Keep bystanders clear.

In the pic below you can see my setup. A couple of signs and a fire extinguisher!!

But that's a B52 Bomber that takes an hour and a half to fill with AV GAS !

Yes your right there Mat there is an exclusion Zone which is beyond my vehicle. I have been pulled up this afternoon and will have to get my pics before the fuel flows. ;)

Yeah the cloud cover has been at 600 feet today and basically a No Fly zone all day so all static displays and fuel ups. The jets got a run around 4:30pm but I had left for the day.

Got the boom over my head at my place too though! Awesome.

Big day tomorrow hopefully!

WOW!!!! Damn! I can't believe how many people here today!!! Friday night was the choice time to come guys. The car parks are gridlocked.

If your coming head into Lara and catch a shuttle bus from the station. Infact catch a train to Lara and a bus to the venue! It wi a e you HOURS!!

There were more people through the gate before 8am this morning than for the whole day yesterday!!

It was Art mate! Looked awesome. I actually took pic of the motor last night as I also noticed the extraordinary pipes on the front but for some reason the photos did not wok right? Odd?

But I went back tonight to get those close ups for you mate after everyone went home . It's awesome. Zoom in and you can really see the detail and each of the heads in the Rotary engine! Looked great!
