Do you have button clutch? Excedy etc. and by the sounds of it you could be for a rebuild on the box. When you say it feels lumpy is it hard to select a gear? Does it crunch/grind at all?

2.5 cm off the firewall is perfect adjustment, 3cm from the top is either worn clutch or you have an issue with the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder.

Try pressure bleed the clutch system and see if the pedal grabs lower. If there is air in the system and the push rod on the slave doesn't travel far enough that could cause part of your shifting problems unless in its life some one has missed a shift and ground the synchros in 1st 2nd and 3rd

And check the gearbox oil level aswell coz a low oil level can cause a hard shift during gear change

You might need to take it to a mechanic but you will need the correct DOT brake fluid, its sometimes written on the cap, then get someone to pump the pedal twice and hold it down on the 3rd time then with your finger over the bleeder you need to quickly snap open and shut the bleeder with a spanner. Repeat the twice and down, open and close bleeder sequence a couple of times making sure the fluid doesn't run low.

If you don't feel confident in bleeding it take it to your mechanic to bleed it for you.

Does the clutch slip (engine revs but car doesn't go) under load ?? That will be a good indication if the clutch is worn, have you driven thru a large body of water or a muddy hole ?? If your bell housing is not water tight and you have driven thru mud it can make the friction disk slip aswell

Thanks for the info no the clutch does not slip at all even on steep gradients i have put the boat in some holes but not deep enough to get close to the bell housing might take it to someone to do it thankyou again

Is it 3cm from top of travel, or 3cm from bottom?
If the pedal has soft feel initially, or moves a long way before disengaging, and 1st gear is difficult, I'd be bleeding the clutch m/cyl.
If you're not sure what your doing, refer to Altis007 & see mechanic.
If you know how to, do this. it is alsl possible to bleed a hydraulic system from bottom up, instead of the pump-push method.
I'd also consider dropping the box oil if its hard to select other gears, as apposed to grinding.
Thick oil, cold morning, less viscous and will be hard to engage.
15W40, same as engine I do believe.
so if you put gear oil in it, or it has gear oil in it, it will be hard to select.

Yea thats what its doing hard to select first even second sometimes so what oil would you recvomend
