Hi,
Had a battery and alternator fail on me last week, Have ordered those and while I was at it I ordered new belts and hoses. I also checked my fan blades and they are cactus (not surprising as my mechanic told me to replace it 3 years ago). Now the dilemna... do I buy original or are the ebay ones OK? Of course I realise the Nissan one will be better quality but by how much? Considering an original is $135+postage (http://www.atocauto.com.au/proddetail.asp?prod=21060_06J01) I could save a bundle by going:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Patrol-GQ-Y60-87-97-4-2L-Diesel-TD42-FAN-BLADES-/360591540272?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f4ee4030

or

Anyone seen or bought any of these cheaper ones? Any good?

Thanks

Personally haven't seen or bought the cheaper ones as I went thermo fans in my 4.2EFI.

I would personally just buy the cheaper ones, really can't see the original ones being any better than those ones.

Cheers

Some 'imitation' stuff I have bought on ebay has been really good in the past... Thats the problem though, some of it is good... some of it is terrible though.... oh decisions decisions..... darn it, while I have pootrol in bits I might just have to get a new expansion tank as well

While I have all this apart, is there anything else I should consider replacing ???

Also, I should have taken a picture of the drive belts before removing them. Which one goes on what? and which pulley from the engine goes on the Alternator and which one to the Fan? Hard to see which ones line up now they are off.....

Anything to consider when putting the belts back on (apart from previous question)?

Thanks

Seem to be having trouble tracking down a fan.... As there is a difference between the bolt holes on a TB42 vs TD42 I'm concerned I won't receive the correct one. Several websites are adverting both types but state the holes are 133mm for both which isn't true. Anyone know where I can get a guaranteed TD42 fan (apart from Nissan of course). Tried Coventrys, no luck

Spoke to carsrusaustralia and they actually stock both TB42 and TD42 and knew about the difference etc. So have ordered through them..... $48.80 + $15 delivery

Yes, I think they are like 143mm between bolt holes instead of 133mm.... Mine is 133mm (well it looks like 135mm but must be 133mm)

Story I heard is you can use either fan on either engine.
you just need the matching viscus for that fan.
diesel fan + diesel viscus will fit both engines.
the same said again for petrol.
Is that correct peoples?

Is the viscus clutch slippage and air flow correct for either engine?.
cheers

Robo, I think thats correct..... I think people put the petrol viscous on when their diesel one craps itself. Its a lot cheaper apparantly. But then again you also have to buy the petrol fan to match...
