Hi guys,

My 17yo son adjusted the driver's exterior mirror this morning at the start of his driving lessons and thought that you adjusted the angle of the mirror by pressing your thumb on the glass. Wrong!

I rang Nissan for a genuine part and they want $518 for a 'wing mirror'. I said to myself.....fhzk@#$@ that. lol

One option is to see a glazier on Monday and get the glass replaced. The other option is to get one from a wreckers. There's nothing wrong with the 'frame', just broken mirror.

Anybody know of any wreckers or glaziers SOR, in particular Rockingham area.

I'm staying in Baldivis till Monday then heading back to Mukinbudin

It's a 2005 GU DX Ute - no fancy electrics, no bling. Just your good old fashioned basic model.

I'm still in shock!

Thanks.

Ross

Bugger. If you go to a glazier make sure you tell them that its for the side mirror and you want the right type of mirror. Normal Mirror glass will drive you nuts mate! I did this on my road bike many years ago and it was terrible!

"Objects in your mirrors appear closer than they are"

A side mirror on a car is not a 1:1 ratio mirror.

Thanks. My mate from our local forum sent that link, too. My truck isn't electrics, it's all manually operated (pardon the pun - if you're thinking bad thoughts. lol)

Is that $745 per pair or for just 1 mirror?

I told the salesperson it was a 2005 GU ute. I'm assuming he knew it wasn't electrics. I think I'll recheck with another dealer on Monday.

The price didn't include the taxi fare to pick it up. lol

Thanks, Wayne.

I've already bought a seat belt and a full set of turbo gaskets from Garry and was more than happy with the service he has provided.

I can't believe Nissan wanna charge so much. Will check it out with another dealer on Monday. There's nothing wrong with the casing, just the glass has gone.

You can buy a mirror extension direct from Nissan for all you Podders. Just chase the mirror then call Nissan for the extensions. I have pics on my phone! I'll see if I can find them and post on tappa

*** sorry not on the phone. I will have to download them off my computer.
