View Full Version : Whats the best water seperating fuel filter

I want to fit a water seperating fuel filter to my 3litre crd ,there is a wide variety avail,what do you recomend and what filtration size eg 10 micron,also does anyone know what micron size is the original...??

You just have to make sure its not to restrictive so it doesn;t put too much strain on your pump. I've heard of pumps failing as they have to work a lot harder to pump the fuel through ones that are too restrictive.

EDIT: I just remembered its the seperator/filter that cause the pumps to strain. the link above is just a water trap only and its fine.
You probably dont really need another filter

original nissan filters are 3 to 5 microns

I would put a CAV setup inline before the OEM filter. They use a cheap, but very effective filter (#7111-296) and have a glass bowl on them. I think you even get one with alarms in them. But a waste IMO, if you have the bowl you can see whats going on. The only draw back is if you bust the bowl your screwed if you dont have a spare.
