On what, some here are good but not good enough to know what you drive and where you are.

Connected to the reverse light. LOL.
NO, not the one connected to the body, the other wire. LOL
What type of car?
Where do you need to access the wire from? Dash of the back of car?
Access your relay / fuse panel and wiring looms that run down the side of ya car.
Test for a wire / connection that is activated when selecting reverse.
Use a multimeter / Ammeter to see how much current your 'mirror thingy' draws when activated before hooking it to ya existing reverse wiring.
That'll tell you if ya need a relay or not.
If not, splice the wire and solder away, followed by shrink tube.

Sorry boys, Patrol GQ, 1992.
Posted in GQ section, didnt think year would make much difference.
Cheers Lieney, ill dust the multimeter out and test the fuse panal.
Someone told me there was a sensor under the gear shift column, and i could run the wire from there.
Installation is pretty basic, except this one wire, and all it says is 'Reverse Light' on it. Ive installed a few stereos in my time, never needed this wire before!

I'm planning to add a reversing camera but I don't reckon I'm going to hook it up to be activated when in reverse. I intend to just have it switched so I can turn it on any time.
Tip tip tip......tap tap tap....

The easiest place to find the reverse light wire is in the harness in the passengers kick panel (or at the connector under the passengers front seat) it's a Green wire with a White trace.
