G'day
you need to give abit more information.

When does it overheat? (up hills, highway speed, constantly)

With the knock, drop the oil and see if there is any metal filings in it

When you try to engage 4wd can you feel it trying to engage or is there nothing at all just a loose gear stick?

Check your engine mounts. Especially the passenger side mounts. Mine had split causing a horrible knock at idle. Hard to see while still mounted in the car, but easy to see when out. Obviously.

Also pull out the shroud around the radiator and make sure the radiator fins aren't full of crap. It's about 6 or so screws that hold it onto the radiator.
