Hey guys,
After days of research I'm still a little lost about the current rules for modifications in nsw,
I know it has changed so you can only increase tyre diameter by 15mm without engineering certification.
But the reason I've been researching is I have now got some 35" tyres and as soon as I looked at getting an engineers certificate I found the rules had changed.
Can someone confirm that they have had 35" tyres or suspension mods engineered recently, when, where and how much,
Any information will help as long as it's recent.
I would prefer to run these tyres legally, due to insurance as much as anything. I only plan to run 35's for trips, not daily... I also have 2" lift and 2"body lift that I was intending to get engineered as well if required.
Let me know of your recent experiences or where I can find current information.
Cheers
Kai

Try your local tyre/suspension/4x4 shop surely they would know the latest rules & regs,
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I spoke to a local shop this morning who also happen to have a few patrols on large tyres, the guy I spoke to did not know about the engineering side of things but was going to try and get some answers. So I will hear from him in the next day or so.
So has anyone had any modifications engineered in the last few months?

Just say all mods were done before laws were changed, and date receipts accordingly, He He

After more research I found out the process for getting modifications legal(in nsw)
If you want to know more google :
Vehicle safety compliance certification scheme or VSCCS Nsw for short.

Hi Kai, We're also in the process of researching and getting our modifications legalised and engineered, wondering how you went with getting your rig engineered with 35's and 4" lift. Our Engineer has asked us to find all the standard factory specifications of our SWB GQ, ei, highest wheel option and highest factory height. No idea where to find these stats, but only just started looking...
any advice, tips, tricks?
thanks

Nit trying to be a smart ass but isn't that what your paying the engineer for? I have just never had an engineer come back and ask me to do that for him.

Tyre size difference can be increased by 7%. So to go from a 265/75 16(800mm diameter) to 285/75 16(829mm diameter) still legal. You could go to 305/75 16 if there was a tyre that fits(over by 3mm). It also goes off the maximum size tyre available for your car on the tyre placard not what may be on your car now. Unfortunately I cannot find my tyre placard on the GU.
