Haha as the title states where do you guys like to stick your..... boost gauge?

I'm undecided out of these 3 positions, each has its ups and downs....

I like the console idea because there is ample room for a neat install, however its down a fair way to look at.

I like the cluster idea because its right there in front, however not sure if legally I can do it? Also not alot of room to play with.

Pillar is good as I can then get a dual pod mount so when I get my egt gauge I can install there, but I wont want to draw too much unwanted attention.

Gauge in question is smoked when powered off as well.

Cheers,
Eric.

Is it dim-able??? If its not then away from the pillar and cluster as it will kill your eyes in the dark on long drives.
If it is then my personal choice is the pillar

As you say they have advantages and disatvantages

Pillar pod for sure. Once you have the gauge in you wi

Use it heaps and down the bottom of your centre console will be a terrible place. You Ned go reference it as quickly as your speedo mate.

I mentioned it as I had a bright gauge in one of my vehicles and after about 3-4hrs driving I couldn't drive no more. Eyes sore, headache and over tired.
See if you can put a little dimmer switch or pot on the light circuit

if you want to dim it see if you can put an inline variable resistor in the power cable i think you can pick them up cheap from electrical shops

Pillar Pod. I have a 3 gauge one and use VDO gauges which are not bright at all and they fit up with ease.

its quite a weird gauge, wiring for it is as follows: Red: Ignition +12v, Black Negative, Green to boost sensor, and yellow: "Connect to accessories positive wire"

Not really sure why it needs a feed +12v for ignition and +12v for accessories? I mean the gauge wouldn't be even working if you had it on accessories. Very weird indeed.

The accessories wire is so it turns on, the 12v constant is probably for a memory like if it has a over boost alarm??

trekster
19th February 2013, 09:29 PM
it has alarm set at 21 or 24psi factory set, its not constant 12v I believe its ignition 12v.

here is mine. They are VDO gauges. On the left is the pyro which the base is velcroed to the dash. On the right bottom is boost again velcroed to the dash. on top is oil pressure.
I used the bracket supplied with the pod turned it upside down and used it as a clamp onto the boost gauge. The oil gauge has a strip of velcro holding it to the boost and a strip of velcro (as seen in the pic) on the pillar. They dont move and my ute has a very rigid ride, they have been there for over 2 years now

12v+ is power
Accessories wire= any wire that gets power when the key is in the on position to turn the gauge on when the car is running so it doesn't stay on all the time
