I see the Victorian police now wear camo and hide in the bushes to raise more revenue
Well today while traveling around Albert Park working I was tail gated by an unmarked police car with it`s driver waving madly at me to pick the speed up, but I was already on the speed limit so I just stayed at that speed until I made a right had turn. As he sped down the left hand side my side kick was going to give him the bird but thought better of it . No wonder i have very little respect for some of these people who are employed by us.

Take their No Plate. Record the time and write a formal complaint about dangerous driving.
Get the moron cops off the road and let the law-upholding good cops stay in and do their job.

I slam the breaks on tailgaters, 1 was a cop lol. Around Albert park the jacks love it coz of the heroes who think there in the grand prix but are driving a 1982 corolla! Not very aero dynamic!! Lol

I know a few cops and have considered it as a profession. It's like anywhere, majority of em are good people, but there's a few dropkicks that ruin their rep. There's a TMU guy in knox and that guy Ash Bowden off the tv that spring to mind.
I don't worry about speeding though, I have a duel fuel carbied petrol/gas Maverick with just on 360k on the clock.

Gotta be careful with bigger tyres than your speedos set for are on, for example when I sit on 80 im actually going 83 and at 100 im going 104/105

As soon as you change them, check with GPS and note how your speedo reads. Nissan speedos seriously suck for accuracy. Mine was 12 KPH out with stock tires - it's almost spot on with 33s

I have met a lot of good coppers over the years and know what they have to deal with but of course there are the cowboys and coppers that would book there own mothers..
I was done by a copper tailgating me, I thought it was a couple of young blokes being stupid so I dropped a couple of gears on my 1000cc bike and left them for dust....... in the end they booked me for 90 in a 50 zone but I was doing 180kmh???
I actually think I would have got off if there was only one cop but as there were 2 they had to book me and they gave me a very reduced amount.. still no licence for 3-6 months?? cant remember which??

One thing that pisses me off with the Vic police is that they ARE allowed to drive and talk on their mobile phones at the same time. But I do have a lot of respect for them, they helped me out a few years back with an abusive neighbor I had. Like any where/place, there is always the idiots who spoil it for the rest of them.

Yes they are. It was in our local rag a few months back. Someone took a pic of a copper doing this and sent it in to the paper. It was published and in that publish it stated that they have an exception to the rule...
As for them wearing camo. They did this years ago on the Black Spur, no biggie. Don't speed and you don't get booked. Simple.

Yeah cops are exempt from mobile laws. Read that somewhere a while ago. Spose they could need them for communicating with member of public during an incident.
There is no need for them to be talking on mobile phones while driving, If they are in the car by themselves ( which is not often ) and need to communicate to the public the message should be relayed via UHF through the operator, Talking on a UFH radio is still legal isn't it *LMAO*

In the northern suburbs of melbourne the jacks are a different breed i know of 1 that use to race every1 while he was off duty then book them and hand out defects while he was on duty!! I got booked while talking on the phone by a copper that was on the phone aswell and when i argued the point he told me about their bogus training and i asked if i could do it aswell he stuttered and said only for government agencies! Thats why they can bang it!! And i say its legal untill you get caught hah.
Seriously tho i have a relo that works at the head office here in melb that tells the jacks your details when they call in, well sone of the stories she tells us OMFG you have no idea mate!!

Anyhow in regard to the subject. Don't speed and you wont get caught and then you have nothing to worry about.
OT again, one thing that gets my goat is people who say they are just revenue raising. Like I said. Don't speed, and you wont be helping them raise revenue. KISS!

Then why have a $$$$ value 2 a fine if it wasn't about revenue raising.
Maybe the government should use all that revenue from all the speedsters to build some real roads like the autobahns overseas :)
One thing that gets up my goat is people travelling below the speed limit and then having a whine when my bull bar is just about to cause some panel work 2 there car.....Now those people should get fined!!!

No offense to anyone who has said this, but I am sick of people who say don't speed and you won't get booked, or that it's not revenue raising.
Point 1, Why are a large percentage of speed cameras set up at the bottom of hills, so they can get the poor bugger who strays a couple of K's above the speed limit,
Point 2, With the setup now with speed limits, it seems designed to catch out unsuspecting drivers, in NSW when I started driving there were 4 speed limits(60, 80, 100 and 110(or no limit-which meant 110) now we have 40,50,60,70,80,90,100 and 110. talk about bloody confusing.
Point 3, this mostly applies to our poor Victorian cousins, in NSW the speed limit is posted by 2 signs one either side of the road and where the speed limit changes the limit is in big numbers on the road pavement, not in Victoria it is just a sign on the side of the road. Very easy to miss if something distracts you.
Point 4, I have always maintained if I am booked by a Patrolling Police Officer, (whether is is unmarked, bike or standard highway car) for doing the wrong thing then it is fair cop, but hiding in Freeway median strips or behind trees is not reducing the road toll it is purely revenue raising. If it was about reducing the road toll we would have a higher police presence.
To say you have never sped is a crock of sh!t, you may have never been fined but I guarantee that at some point you would have exceeded the speed limit, even if it is by the smallest margin.
Anyway they are my thoughts

Main thing with the cameras is that there is very little tolerance and because it is machine no discression.
Been past plenty of TOG guys at 5 - 10 over and they wont bother, they are looking for the 10 +.
Cameras a just a prick, however even in sunny vic the land of the camera they are very easy to spot if you are actually concentrating driving.
For some history for the interstaters, the yarra valley where these camo operations are being held are due to the large amount of motorbike crashes in the area. Was plenty of idiots that were basically treating them like there weekend race track. The roads are very tight and not really any other way to set up radar operaton. Not even sure why they even bother with the camo as you would never see them until to late anyway.
As a regular user of all these targeted roads I can honestly say that these operations seem to have made a massive difference to the amount of wreckless sportsbike riders in the area, although I still neally cleaned one up the other night as he overtook on the outside of a blind corner. Lucky I always keep well left on that road.
BTW I am a sportsbike rider, but the amount of idiots using these roads was amazing.

If they really want to stop speeding they would set up average speed cameras everywhere. You WILL get caught for speeding with those. Have them all clearly marked, then people will know they are there and have no choice but to slow down.

In the first 6 years of getting my license i lost it 7 times for speeding and accumulating demerit points, not to mention i got booked moving cars over across a 2 lane street when i was 17 for not wearing my seat belt and not having P plates displayed (revenue raising at its finest) i was going not even 5km/h and the law states if your frequently stopping and traveling under 25km/h YOU DONT NEED TO WEAR A SEAT BELT, anyway this mole waited till i parked the car then turned the lights on and siren in front of work that had a couple of customers in and proceeded to book me and after i told her the law she replied "its easy, don't pay the fine and i'll see you in court" so i say speed as much as you want when you think its safe to do so and bugger the rest!
None of my family lend me their cars now coz they think i will try and break the land speed record or something lol

Whether it's revenue making or not and whatever the reasons and the tactics used, the simple fact of the matter, no matter where you are, if you speed you run the risk of getting nabbed. If you don't wanna get nabbed then don't speed. If you get caught then don't complain, tale it on the chin.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love going at a rate on knots through a winding country road.... I find there's nothing better. I've been booked on several occasions almost losing my licence here and the UK, almost having to spend the night in a cell in Virginia in the US. An interesting tid bit. Up until 1/1/2007 the NT had open speed limits (//) on its main Hiways (Stuart, Barkley, Victoria). On the 1/1/2007 the 130kph was forced into law on those same hiways. In 2008 the road toll increased by about 15%. In 2009 the road toll increased by 90%. There has been absolutely no decrease since the imposition of speed limits. That is why the (//) is due to be resurrected in the next 2 or 3 months by the new NT Gov....

Currently the point to point speed cameras in NSW are only for trucks, which is probably why you are not walking everywhere.
Give it time though and no doubt the will realign the cameras to include cars. I would be wary in a larger 4wd though as there is not a lot of difference in size to a small truck.

an interesting fact is that the australian standards for car manufacturers speedo tolerance is 5% so the speedo by australian standards can be out either way by 5% but in victoria it is illegal to go 5% over the speed limit??????? And yes i might move back to the territory now, well done to that government, i can remember passing cop cars on the stuart hwy at 140clicks and they dont even look at you.

I pretty much always travel 10kph over the speed limit......50 kph in a residential area WTF!, why is a residential area different to anywhere else, kids are not meant to be playing on the middle of the road...........
Don't get me started on cyclist ( push bike ), if your riding on the road and in my way.............. my bull-bar will win each and every time :) You may think you have every right to be there and yes the law will be on your side but until you start paying rego and insurance like every other road user, In my eyes you have no rights on the road!

Yes they shouldn't be but kids are kids and they do. They don't have fully developed brains to consider the consequences of what might happen. We (adults) do. Thats why it is 50k and is the right thing in my opinion. I live in a street which only had speed bumps put in last year after we fought with our local council for seven years to get them installed as every car used to use our street as a short cut and their personal race track. I even threatened our council to take them to court for their negligence if anything happened to my kids if a dickhead was speeding down our street and injured one of them.
Seems to me a lot here have been booked and lost their brief, (I have twice in one night myself back when I was young and dumb). I think its good that they have cameras everywhere.
Maybe I'm different, but I really fail to see why its bad to have camera's in prime speeding positions, like at the bottom of a hill or in hidden spots.
Rules are rules, you get busted, cop it on the chin, accept that you've done wrong and move on.
Tissues for everyone!
Now to put my flame suit back on again....
