Hey all. Just joined up.
I am 33, my Father was a mechanic for 30 years ( so I know my way around a wrench), father of 3 who lives in the Blue Mountains.
Recently I was faced with a delema, fix my d21 Navara 2wd and get it rego'ed for 6 months or cut my loses. The d21 needed a bit of work for pink slip, and even with 6 months rego I would lose out on 2 months of that due to the rego ran out December last year.
I had around $1000 play money and started to weigh up my options, then I came across this
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130846369774?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Ive always wanted a shorty and have longed to get back out the bush, it took 2 seconds before I clicked the buy it now button and the decision was made.
I havent picked it up yet, so I dont know if its as good as the bloke says it is mechanically. Going to collect it Thursday arvo. Yes its rough and needs some body work but the rego gives me around 5 months to clean it up. As long as she drives like he says it does Ill be happy.
This will be the first diesel car I have owned and the second 4x4 I have owned ( other was a Niva), so advise for freeing up lost power and cleaning up would be good. I have been told the diesel pump's been done and allot of rust has been cut out not too long ago, leaving what you can see in the pic's to still be done. I am not a welder so I am thinking of bogging her up to pass rego and then starting to grab some panels i.e top radiator support ready for a big overhaul of the rusted spots in the future.
Well, will know on thursday if she is as good as I have been told and will keep you guys posted.

By the way, if anyone want a relatively minimal rust d21 dual cab with just under 300K on the clock for $500 let me know. I have replaced the rocker cover, cluster, front indicators, overflow bottle, washer bottle, new air cleaner/fuel pump/points/condensor, serviced the auto with new filter and Nulon oil, set the timing, cleaned the carby, fitted a d40 sports bar, replaced the thermostat + housing with new coolant installed. She is currently sitting on 205r16's on Sunrasia white rims, but I have the stock 14" rims and also a set of 205/65r16 tyres all legal tread to go with it aswell, along with 2 workshop manual, new headlights, belts, original cluster and other bits and pieces.
For rego ( ran out December last year) she needs front rotors and pads, new windscreen, surface rust clean up, speedo cable and thats it. Anyone interested pm me, I need it gone as we have been given 90 days notice to leave our rental because the landlords selling, but I wont give it away.
Spot lights not included. Pictured Mp3 not included but Ill install the Patrol's cd player into the d21 when I get it ( birthday presents so cant sell)
