I always used genuine filters on my vehicles as I reckon they are suited to the vehicle much better.

For 5000kms a year it's false economy mate. If you were doing 50k a year then you'd want to change them more often too.

Go OEM

Imo, go a k&n or of sorts, but washable for me... Also allows a better air flow

The only way to get Better flow is less filtration, genuine for me

Thanks guys for your thoughts don't do much off road either so guess OEM / Genuine is the way to go. not a lot of dust on the black top

Keep a look out on Ebay. I have found OEM filters there cheaper, than from Nissan AND cheaper than Ryco... Usually have to buy a few at a time though. No biggie, works out cheaper in the end...

K&n have a finer micron count than standard pads.. its the build and filter oil which provides great filtering and allow high flow..

the oil is to make up for the more open filter in an attempt to allow less to pass

if you download the nissan reference document there is a comparison between air filters and it is a good read not just for the zd30 but all diesels
