does anyone have any details on what is involved in refilling hub with new silicone oil,ie how much is used etc
also has anyone compared the factory plastic fan blades to aftermarket?? its for an 04'td 42tdi

some of them just have a screw you undo and refill with the little tubes of oil and some of them you have to take the entire face off and refill them. make sure you spin it by hand while filling it to get the oil all the way in and fill it right up.
if you are handy with tools and wires electric thermatic fans can be pretty reliable.

thanks for that,i tried thermo's in my old gq (el falcon twins) didnt think they worked as well as the factory engine fan.

Ford sell the oil in small bottles.

Do a search as there are a coupl of articles on this.

Toyota also sell fluid for rebuilds, a 6 blade fixed fan will drag power , a steel one more so plus very noisey
re do the viscous hub you'll be ok, give the radiator a gentle clean as well especially alond the base.

thanks mate,not having any overheating trouble,but the plastic fan has got a few cracks,so i thought id reco the hub while it was off the engine.
