Hi mate wouldn't you just mark out say 200mm cut that section out then move the tail lights etc forward
If you get what I mean. Basically cut 200mm out then re weld back on

I don't know if this is not acceptable but I know that patrol4x4.com has a lot of chop threads for ute convertions etc

I was looking for members who had done a chop, Forced off-road is the closest I could find. His is a lwb which he turned into what we call a well body Ute but gives you some sort of idea I guess. I have a mate who's in the chopping business and can ask him next time we speak if you like...... He mainly does toybotas but principle would be the same.

Indeed ;) I just thought if there was a thread or something on it , I might save some first principle thinkings lol
Esp regards rear body mounts and chassis cross member relocations ?
Want to raise the fuel tank too while I'm there.
I'll work it out .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. and eventually makeitfit ha ha

You're right he didn't, just thought it might give you some ideas on where to cut....... like I said, I'll see if I can pick my mates noggin for some ideas but probably won't get an answer in a hurry

To tap, or not to tap: Well it's obviously tap because this is the signature hey!!!!!! Duh

I saw this when I was looking up Styleside Utes for the thread I stared last night. This was on Patrol 4x4:

Lets see if I can quote from the other forum like MR told me....

neesmo31, here is what I did with mine,

made one large swinging rear door, welded doors together with hinges still on. reskinned with new steel sheet then cut left side hinges out, kept rear perfectly straight

I only wanted a small rear window to allow for roll cage to be fitted, soured from rear of suzuki sierra
http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx274/cutgq/9c6bdf3d.jpg

made a frame up to get rid of hump in rear with 15mm box section then timbered, in the hump left by rear seats, now sits 2 compressors and an air tank, with an opening timber lid. Tubbed the rear arches out so tyres dont rub and need huge offset, only run nissan offset

A mate of mine chopped a shorty when it got a bit bashed up in the rear roof area. He chopped the roof back and used the rear upper pillars to form the back of the cab and left the rear window out (it was a comp truck). It looked pretty similar to an old MQ shorty with the plastic roof section removed when don as it still had the steel roof over the fron seats. the rear doors had the glass frames cut off and turned into gates with the spare bolted down in the rear cargo area. Was a good looking truck in the end.
