Most would run 240's or EGT's I have but now run 9" driving lights no problems at all with airflow.
Try not to have them too far forward, boys in blue dont like it

Do they affect the airflow - Yes, but only at higher vehicle speed, at low speed the fan pulls enough air around them
Do they affect the airflow enough to cause overheating - Not solely themselves but the can be a factor albiet a smallish one
Do the affect the airflow enough to possibly cause the engine to run a few degrees hotter on stinking hot days/high loads - Definitely Yes

I have recently removed a set of 220 Roo Lights of my truck and replaced with a light bar (but not in front of the grille). There is definitley a difference the coolant temps are and how quickly the temp drops back after a bit of an uphill slog at cruising speed but around town or lightly loaded then there is probably a difference but if so it is a small one.

I mean to say that if a bonnet protector affects air flow and charge air temps in an intercooler then two wacking great spotties within a foot of teh rad certainly has to affect the airflow into the grill...

Hey ET. You reckon replacing the Driving lights with a light bar was a better choice? My IPF's are spot beam, which i prefer. Just wondering if a light bar will suffice. I have seen them in action but haven't driven with them, so its another question and thing to do on my list.

Mudski if you prefer spot beams then the LED bar will probably not suit you. If you like flood though then they will leave any spot light for dead! Spots + LED bar = the ultimate combination!

I love my light bar and it leaves the spots for dead 90% of the time.

I am with bloodyaussie in that the light bar is far and away a better illumination source 90% of the time.

My Roo Lites were HID's and the light bar throws more 'useable' light than they did IMHO.
I certainly won't be going back to traditional lights be they HID or high performance globes like the Fyrlyt/Roo Lite/Lightforce.
Yes they are great products just that I find the LED's heaps better for what I do which is sedate touring, tracks and bush.

I tried a twin row 180 watt, single row 90 watt and single row 120 watt bar and the single row 120 is what I chose. When I tested them I had them on the truck at the same time as my 55 Watt Roo lites and would drive along switching between whichever bar I had fitted and the Roo Lites.

The 180 watt bar versus Roo Lites you could hardly tell the difference
The 90 watt bar was just as good when augmented by my 2 x 35 watt HID pencils in the bull bar
The 120 watt bar was as good as the Roo Lites everywhere except long straight gravel with significant bush close to the side (IE almost tunnel like) but then I turn on the 35 watt pencils.
Anywhere where the going is twisty or slower IE tracks, gravel, twisty bitumen the LED's are waaay better and I use them just on their own

Bottom line is it depends on individual preference and useage I spose.
