It must be possible and now you've given me the idea I want some too :-)

I am able to get the replacement struts for A GU aftermarket (wholesale not trade) and they come with the little threaded balls. PM for price.

My experience is that the GU struts are well, crap to say the least. I have reverted to a bit of wood. Cheaper to I might add.

It must be possible, because my mechanic ordered 2 and put them in last week.

Trust me, you can only be patient with a piece of wood for so long. lol

If you ring Ovesco (NSW and QLD based I believe) they can supply gas struts pretty much by dimensions and weight needed, I needed some for a soarer boot and they could supply them, if you measure it up, they can advise you how to go, and it will be a damned sight cheaper than the ridiculous price Monroe are asking for their product too.

its possible but you most likley need to weld a nut into the bonnet to mount the ball joint to, to allow it to pivot because from factory they would do it before the internal bonnet skin is added. also you need to get the angle right so that it rises and shuts with ease.
Im defiantly going to do it its a great idea thanks!!

I put Commodore tail gate gas struts on mine, a couple of years ago, you can buy em from the wreckers for bugger all, or $40 bucks each brand new

Do you have pics of the setup? Just so I can see where and how you mounted them.
