Got the speedo/tacho binnacle out. Now what?!

You may remember a thread I started a few months ago about the speedo pegging at top speed which was intermittent and often would correct itself with a sharp whack.

Well I finally got around to taking out the unit and there's no smoking gun.

I expected to see a board which I could touch up the solder joints but it's a flimsy? plastic sheet with only a couple of solder joints that look in pretty good condition.

The other connections appear to be screw connections which all look pretty good also but I went over each one with a screwdriver and loosened and snugged each one up. The connectors appear to be all fine as well.
But that appears to be all I can do, am I missing anything?

i have one in bits in teh shed, stripped down way further than that, give me a day and i will try and have a look for you mate. someone else may chime in though. This is not my strong suit.

Thanks, MudRunner, Being an intermittent failure I reckoned it was just a dodgy connection. I didn't want to go down too far, so knowing whats in there beforehand would be good.
