Well I've been looking at torches and come across some good quality units in both 6w led and 35w hid..
Both rechargeable via wall or 12car, both anodized alloy case, both fully waterproof And both around the 180-200mm long mark..
So I'm asking what you would like in a torch.
Size, type, colour, features?? And most importantly, price.
Let me know, I may be able to bring some dreams alive.

DAQ......
What's the brightest. 6w led or 35w hid?
If you turn the head, does the light beam go from pin point to spread?
Do they come with a 'ring' so you can hook it onto your belt?
What's the 'life expectancy' of the battery/ies?
Does it come with high and low beam? lol

Rossco
6w led 1000lm with 10hour battery life
35w hid 2600 lm with only 3 hour battery life...
No clip, but aa flexible wrist strap
Life expectancy, depends on you treat them, 12 month warranty on them
And 3 light levels, high, med and low
Also what's DAQ??

Mayby some sort of magnet to stick on inside of bonnet for repairs and so on, colour wouldn't bother me but if I had to chose mayby colour coded. The rest has been covered really, there is only so many things a tourch can do.

Like every bloke, I love a good torch - good pencil beam with the twist top heads that turn it to a spread are of definite value ...
Gotta look good too!! lol

A torch with a bottle opener would be good......... I'm forever losing both, so if I lost a torch which had one then it would be a bonus find if I ever fond it again ;)

Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking around for the ideal torch.
All input welcome, but a think a bottle opener may be pushing it a little far... ill try though for sure..
The other thing. Say I do find a high output led with adjustable beam spread, waterproof, good battery life, magnetic and with a bottle opener, would $120ish be around the mark?

That sounds about the right price for a good quality one with those features, even if it doesn't have a bottle opener!!

Ok, I have a good list of features.
I possible may be able to do a custom engraved or etched "forum torch" but I'd say ill need 500 units.. this could be hard to achieve.
I'll hunt around tomorrow.

Seriously though if a good quality led torch came about at a good price, I'd be interested, with or without bottle opener ;)............. have a good look at what's available in the shops and what's on flea bay, there's literally thousands of them.
I'd go led over hid, the longer the battery life (run time) the better the ability to spot or flood would be nice but not essential as I have a great led flood. Definitely water proof. No need for a wrist strap coz I already have a manbag to fulfil those needs (hey Grunter!!!!????).......did I mention bottle opener????? ;)

I think it depends on why you need that? What is the pupose of that light. As other's wite that if you need more bright light for some important work which required a HID light from you then you can buy that. But HID torch consume more power then led so you have to keep in mind that thing but no doubt that is more bright then led lights and also have a long distance range of light. So first you should decide why you need and what purpose then buy a torch light.
