Hello everybody out there,
I have a 1998 GR/GU Shorty, with the RD28Ti ( 2.8 turbo diesel, 6 Cyl.), which is great, it pulls well drives nice and is good on fuel.
However on cold mornings (which are common here in the UK :)), she seems to smoke and is a little rough in the mornings during start-up, the glow plug light glows, for about 6 to 10 seconds, she turns over and starts normally within seconds. However there is always a large plume of white diesel smelling smoke for the first 30 seconds, and a little roughness. After about a minute she seems to settle down.
I know she's an old style Diesel, and with 90,000 miles ( about 160,000 km) under her belt I would not expect perfect start, Apart from age there are no other problems just the smoky starts.
Anybody have any ideas?
