I'm slowly building up stuff for my truck to go on a trip I guess, not sure where/when. I just thought I'd throw a list of what I have and what I'd like, and maybe you can help with what I should have.
First off, I have a bullbar, sump protector, rock sliders, plate steel rear bar with towing points and a towbar. I have a 9500 mean mother winch, a winch block, and a dozen d shackles of varying sizes, plus a quality nylon piece with a caribeena on one end and clip on the other I keep on my bar for quick attaching for a strap. I also have a quality snatchem strap and a nylon tow rope, I also have a roof basket with an awning. Of course hand, ear, eye protection.
I carry a long handle shovel and high lift jack on my roof mount, and a spare tyre and another high lift jack on the spare wheel mount with the attachment for bullbars fitted to it. I have a dual battery set up too.
Inside I have a stereo with GPS, DVD, etc etc, 2 CB's, a handsfree car kit, and a sprung drivers seat. Out back I have a cargo barrier, drawers, an ironman fridge, general tools (pliers, screwdrivers, shifters, hammer, pry bar, socket set) and a few other odds and sods, and my bottom drawer carries camping stuff like gumboots, coat, kitchen stuff, soap, torch and a big heavy duty mean mother compressor.
For safety I run 3 cameras on the car, 1 records front, 1 records rear and the other is a HD camera I use when I go off road. They're for my own protection and the rear one offers a small amount of vision when reversing as most of my rear window is covered with a 35" tyre.
I'm planning on fitting a water tank on the roof, making a ladder for easier access, fitting 2 Jerry can racks to the roof basket, I have a front locker and air compressor to fit up and I'm also looking at fitting a small tank so I have some compressed air to blow off my shoes or to clean the truck inside. I'd like an inverter, and also a small 12v food warmer, plus a camping stove and some good cast cook wear. I'm also thinking of making a fold down table that bolts to my rear door, but as my drawers are a tight fit, I may have to opt for another system.
Anything I'm missing?

Firstly, congrats on 100 posts - that changes your status to expert! lol
To be honest, I'm not a real fan of jerry cans. What size tanks are you running?
What do you use your troll mainly for? There's plenty of build ups for a fold down table, but can't remember who has them.
Take care out there.

I WOULD NOT repeat WOULD NOT put a water tank on the roof, Lifts your centre of gravity too much
Plenty of options for water carrying. Dont use nylon rope unless you know it has a rating or an extensive first aid kit, Also dont use PVC for water, its made with lead
Congrats on 100

Are your D Shackles rated or just the everyday run of the mill shackles?

They say the DICK SMITH pie warmer is ok the other is over priced, or those rectangle food warmers work well.
When choosing gear to pack into your 4x4 try to think of packing things that have more than ONE use, I'll give you
one example then you'll know what I mean . November copy of Playboy ie as well as light reading it'll also come in handy if you need to join 2 snatch'em straps.
also paper to light fire if wood is wet. plastic containers can double up as wash basins and so on, but you need to travel
as light as you can.

I`m with TD travel light and try and only carry things with2 or more uses. As a few would have read I`ve dun a fair bit of remote travel in a LWB Maverick and I do not have a roof rack, never have ,never will. I choose my equipment very carefully and don`t carry things I`m not likely to use. I have three fuel tanks which carry around 350 Lts, water is stored in good jerry cans and the number is dependent on water availability on any given trip

Thanks for the congrats on 100, hadn't even noticed!
Mainly use the truck for a bit of fun, bit of beach work and some camping but plan to do more when our girls get older.
I'm running gas, and my petrol tank is only about 25L, so the idea was to fill the gas tank and fuel tank, and to carry 2 fuel refills in case I was stuck somewhere without gas. Hopefully if I plan everything out it won't happen, however it is always a good idea, I think. Only takes one servo to be shut, or out of gas and 25L don't get you too far!
All my gear is good quality, I work in spare parts and the D shackles are all big stuff, apart from a few that are only for light work, my tow shackles are all massive. The nylon tow rope is basically only for emergencies but was rated at 3 tons and I've used it to pull start my GT Falcon without a problem. The snatchem strap is a mean mother one.
We have food warmers at work, the bonus being I can use it in the car and also in my boat, if it keeps a pie warm or makes a toasted sanga I'd be happy.
I've seen lots of 4wds with a plastic (I assumed) PVC pipe on the roof, about 100mm diameter with a tap on the end, is there a pipe to use that is safe for drinking? I was planning on using it for showering as well, but ill grab a couple of cheap shower bags I think.
My next big thing will be to make a water bra, it will have to be permanently attached as I have a bullbar with 2 bull lights on top, so ill make it in a way that I can roll it up and keep it connected to the top bar with straps, and fold it down.

I'm pretty sure Big Rig's 'Tank' wears a water bra. He might be able to help.

Carrying water can be dangerous if you have it in large quantities. The fire brigade are told to either have their tanks empty or full when in transit. Obviously being a fire truck it would be dumb to have it empty unless your going to refill.
If you do decide to get a water tank, look into getting baffles installed to stop water sloshing around and causing dramas.

Instead of a "water Bra" why not a 8'x6' tarp, then you have a groung sheet/water bra all in one.
also handy if you need to look under the 4x4 keep yourself dust free.
All shackles or recovery equipment should be stamped with either WWL or SWL
usually 4,5t or 3,5t for a 4x4

3 dogs, I was going to snipe some canvas off a mate for the bra. I have a tarp in the truck, but the drama ill have is that the front bar has 2 Narva bull lights on top that go above the bonnet, so ill need to make a back section that goes from the bar back to the radiator, and the front section that goes down and around, my plan was to make up a template, make the canvas one, take the lights off, cut 2 holes so the poles for the lights can come through, then fit the bra and the lights, making the bra permanent. Then I'd roll it up and cable tie it in place and unroll it when I need it, secure it in place with strategically placed tonneau hooks and it's good to go.
