Hi all time to think about changing the floor coverings in Neville the mighty GU.
Do I go for a hard wearing carpet or spend a bit more and put those sandgrabba
style one piece rubber matting down.

You getting mud up there are ya?
Imo carpet. It feels a little more posh..
But if your going to be tramping mud and crap in and out of it the rubber is probably a better option.

People always say that it's nice to have carpet but is it really? Other than looks I can't really think of any benefits, in fact I reckon in terms of practicality rubber or vinyl is a lot better.

We did Woodspoint to Marysville years ago with a few mates and all the kids, My mate wouldn't let kids in his 4x4 with muddy feet. I'm the opposite
Don't give two hoots how dirty it gets when I go 4x4ing. My problem is the rubber matting looks cheap IMO. Maybe some decent carpet and high edged rubber mats?
I just dont know

I'm with you, carpet and decent mats.
That way it still matches the trim.
I saw on eBay black carpet. That would hide more than the grey stuff

I reckon the only down fall with black is the heat retention.

rubber all the way! Carpet does look good but getting sand, mud and general dirt out of it is painfull. My work ute and the previous one both had/ have vinyl flooring and its just a matter of wiping out with a damp cloth!

Don't ask Plassy for advice. He's got shag pile in his Kombi. hahahaha
Seriously, I'd be happy with carpet and deep floor mats - especially if you're gunna use it ceremonially.

Carpet and High Side Mats in both the GQ and the GU here. the only way to go i reckon.
The great thing about the High Side mats is they collet all the sand and or mud and you just lift them out at the car wash and hose the off! Most car washes have the wall clips for you to hang them on too ;) Just do them first!@ by the time your done the mats are drip dry and ready tog back in. Got them in the back for the kids too.
You get them from Aldi in a pack of 4 every now and then too ;)

The drivers side one i just cut the top flap off each side so it fits around the Foot rest on the left and the accelerator pedal on the right. Not in the way then and full cover of the carpet.
The Sand grabber are really nice i am sure but really expensive and not really needed i reckon. This style serves me very well.

Carpet with high sided rubber mats for me
Agreed. I don't like the farm look with vinyl flooring. I have the cheapo' Super cheap high sided mats and they catch everything.

Agree and you don't see that much carpet anyway.

I had mazda bravo with vinyl interior and loved every minute of it didnt matter if you spilt anything on it and the sand came straight out with a brush. having said that they do look a bit tacky like that. What about the rubber with carpet mats.LOL.
Think I would stick with the carpet and get the high edge rubber mats I have some in mine now and the do work but now 100%.

Carpet with high sided rubber mats is the way to go and the black rubber mats match my clothes.
