View Full Version : Rigs dying between 2000 n 2500 rpm

Gday, ive just flushed and replaced the clutch fluid in my rig and now im noticing a really bad lag between 2000 n 2500 before power picks up and car starts revving again.
Is it spark plugs, leads, timing? Any help much appreciated!!

Did you lean or climb up on anything when changing the clutch fluid?

I would go over all the leads and wires to double check....

No from wot i can c i havnt moved anything? I hav found that it only does it while running on petrol tho!?!?

You haven't got dodgy fuel from somewhere have you? The fuel filter is around that area, maybe you've bumped that and a bit of crap has got into the line? I'd probably start with changing the fuel filter and possibly the fuel line to the carb and if that fails put some fuel system cleaner in the tank to clean the system, or if it's super bad you may need to clean your carb on the inside and get some gunk out.

Just double check you haven't knocked any vacuum pipes off the carb, or possibly any of the wiring aroun the carb, I noticed one of my earths were snapped when doing plug leads. Just double check everything in the general area you were working.

Done the fuel filter as that was 1 of my suspects but hasnt made a difference. Vac lines r all connected also. Im stumped? Leads n plugs r good as were changed bout 5000k ago.

One of the things most overlooked on early GQ's is the points and condensor -if its a carby model -the coil is probably due for replacement another suspect would be the float level as most Dual fuel cars are normally run on gas which eventually buggers the carby and you'll also possibly have stale fuel as ULP goes off after 6 weeks . X 2 with above all carbies tend to dry out as most run gas 99% of the time.
not sure if carby will come good running on petrol,,,,,,, go get a tune that may fix it.
