Ok, we are currently in winter mode over here, generally below freezing most nights.

When I go out to the car, I have to run the glow plugs twice, then it may start, sometimes it needs the glowplugs again. Once started it blows some light grey smoke, which I assume is excess diesel?

It has had all six glow plugs replaced ,air filter replaced and using the heat button makes no difference.

My task this weekend it to clean the MAF sensor out. I have read on here that I can only spray the cleaner through the MAF and must not take the MAF apart. Will this help or should I be looking at other problems?

Thanks for reading.

OK, so i`m an idiot.

Did a load of searching ,here and elsewhere, came up with the solution, cheap fix for a change.

Turn ignition on,wait for glow plugs and airbag light to go off, start car, no smoke no dramas. Well it works for me anyway.

Your meant to wait for the glow plug light to go off in all Diesel cars but most people don't.

Fully aware of that thanks mate, I didn`t know to wait for the airbag light to go off. Seems there is some secondary relay on the glowplug circuit for really cold starting.
