Hi guys im at my wits end here. my fuel economy is through the roof and have no luck with Nissan. I'm battling to get 450 kms to both of my tanks (125 ltrs)on highway use. average speed is 110 to 120. I've got a 2 inch lift kit and an alloy roof rack but this shouldn't effect the overall economy all that much. My mate has the same age patrol with the same mods and is getting somewhere around 700 kms a tank doing 140kmph. my won't go over 130. Nissan did a diagnostic check and came up with nothing. other than that they're not interested

Mate, that is shocking economy.... I wouldn't leave Nissans workshop till they fix the issue. 27l/100 is not right, there is something wrong. I get 12.5l/100 around town or highway with a lot of weight on the Patrol

First things first tho mate, jump into the introduction section and introduce yourself and you will get a much better response.

Hi mate, as Nisshead mentioned, if you jump over the the Intro's section and say g'day you will find that you'll get a lot more responses. With respect to economy I have a 2012 GU 8 and get about 12L/100km out of it. There are a bunch of threads on here about economy and CRD patrols - if you do a quick search you will find them. But the economy you are getting is definitely not right.

Hi mate, mine is also in the 11.8-12.5 range that's mixed highway and around town driving. I'd be really disappointed with your figures. Maybe back to Nissan and tell them you have discussed the issue with several other owners who get way better economy.
Just don't give up as there must be a cause.

I was about to have a winge about my economy, I just bought a 2010 ST and my first tank returned 15.6L/100 around town.. Your figures make me feel a little better but still not overly happy.

Drop the car off, tell them unless you're getting around 12/100 you don't want it back and threaten them with consumer affairs or ACCC or similar

i dont know anything about your 2012 models you all have the same trouble
so im suggesting that one of you guys trys a catch can to divert the crap away from
the pvc and strain it through the catchcan it will let the engine breath easier
might improve your fuel econnomy

just my 2cs worth

At least they are now aware of the issue which is a start. No sure why they would want pics, maybe trying to find ways to shift the blame? Lots of people on here with the same mods as you but better fuel economy.
Just don't give up.

dealership took it for a drive for 80klms and used 18 ltrs fuel. nissan says that thats ok?? told me the roof rack and lift kit are to blame. funny thing is that they've not long been on the car and this fuel issue has been going on since i bought the car.I had a mate tell me about the ERG valve. can anyone enlighten me on what it is and where to find it?

Is it a diesel?
I get about 12-13 with my 08 CRD with lift kit and roof rack.

That is definitely not right and at least they have seen it with their own eyes.....hopefully it is just an adjustment or two......

If you don't get any satisfaction, I wouldsend a printout of this thread into Nissan HQ!

I got a 2011 GU8 ST 3lt DIESEL auto, roof rack with 5 spotties awning alloy bullbar chipped 3" exhaust fridge full of JD's in the back sub tank always full.
Fuel economy around town and freeway, I get between 650/700 on the main tank only.
Freeway driving 110/120kph I get 600/650, with a boat behind me 120/130, I get about 500/550.

Any freeway cruising above 2500rpm will see fuel economy raise dramatically.

I have 2012 gu8 auto, average consumption is 13.79l/100km that's after putting about 2000l of fuel through her. Been tracking usage since 3000km on clock now at around 18000km. Then only mod for most of this is steel bullbar (factory).

Have just put on 2m windcheetah roof rack and awning and last fill since having it is 12.8l/100km, lol go figure.

Have now got 265/75r16 MT ATZ 4 ribs on steel rims so will be interested to see how that impacts fuel use. Ill update on here after a couple more tanks let you know what impact is.

You guys who are getting 11-12L/100km, do you have manual or auto??

WogsRus

Manual, 265/70/17 tyres, bull bar etc, and get 11.8 ALL DAY long around town

latest update!! aparently The updated version of the 3 ltr is designed to run 15psi of boost not 9 psi like the older engines. a dealership had the car for 2 days and could find no problems. so back to the drawing board! even the dealership admitted there was an issue but couldn't find it.

Not sure if it applies to cars but with electronic goods if the are returned for warranty for the same fault 3 times and it is still not fixed they legally have to replace it.
