Gentlemen,
I have posted a reply on NICKPEACOCK36 thread but thought that a new thread may be warrented for a hastier response.
I have a GQ 96 Patrol with the 2.8 TD .
I have carried out the suggested tasks to troubleshoot my flickeering dash light problem and found the battery, alternator and charge system seem to be OK.
I cleaned and checked all obvious earth and battery terminal connections. The sysmptoms are as follows:
1. Flickering filter, brake and battery lights associated with;
2. Distinct chattering from 'solenoid' behind glove box. Manual tells me this is door lock and circuit breaker area.
3. Does not always do it, happens after driving for 15 minutes or so and then intermittent for the rest of the drive.
Voltmeter indicates 14.5 alternator output. All belts in good nick and tensioned correctly. No obvious faulty wires / connections to or from alternator and battery .
Last work done on the engine was alternator positioned 'out of the way' by mechanic during exhaust leak repair which required removal of broken studs.
Fuel filter replaced requiring disconnect of filter caution light plug.
Any ideas?
Bruce
