G'day mates!
I was recently taking a peek into my Nissan Patrol 1991 owner's manual. I saw in the do it yourself chapter how to lubricate the injection pump. It recommends using "3 or 4 drops of oil" either "cod liver oil or Bosch OL36V1".
I was wondering is there another oil I could use? I found the cod liver oil in the pharmacy but there is much more than 3 or 4 drops there, and I'd hate to waste the rest of the bottle. (That stuff is farkin' nasty!) My local auto shop and mechanic are also unsure of what oil I should use and we don't want to ruin this old pump.
This process is to lubricate the diaphragm of the injector pump. I wish to do so as I have been seeing more raw diesel smoke coming out of my exhaust. Also, it is in the owner's manual as a do it yourself maintenance tip.
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions on this subject in advance!
