Hey there everyone, just looking online to sort out some issues with my Patrol and came across this site! I own a 97 GQ ST 2.8ltr and besides a few little probs, the machines goes great. The main problem is with the gearbox holding 5th, it quite often spits it out ( last owner of the vehicle had electric brakes and anderson plug so I assume towing in 5th may be the culprit.) Ive been told there is a larger heavy duty after market cog that replaces the factory cog for 5th, anyone else heard of this? Also an oil leak that i need to investigate, everytime I park it drips oil, not big drips but nonetheless, I can see runs from the rear of the tappet cover and also some wet oil around the turbo, but I will degrease down the engine first just to make sure, other than that just your normal rattles and cabin vibration. Im looking for a service manual so I can do a oil change/service, I have no idea how much oil to use, or what oil to use and if you have any advice that would be appreciated. With all that said, just feel free to pop on and say gday!
Cheers - Zano.

Welcome mate, seems you have that leak sorted. hopefully an easy fix. as for the gear, never heard of it, but i have seen (mine included) busted retainer clips wich hold the gears in once selected. mine has snapped the clips for 3rd, and when using the engine as a brake it sometimes pops out.
anyway stick it up on the main forum and you'll have plenty of blokes helping you diagnose it..
enjoy
