Hi guys,

About to buy my first Patrol.

Its really nice mechanically. Only thing is interior just looks shlt.

Especially in the back tray, theres been mud and crap in there so im going to throw out the vynil in the back, and re do most the interior.

Will this be near impossible trying to source new replacement parts? I re did a Ford 77 LTD and it was a nightmare to source parts. Im hoping it wont be the same for the patrol. So can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, repainting the interior, has anyone done that before, any tips?

Oh and window seals look shot, so may replace them.

I have been doing my own look around last night and all this morning and havent found much, so thought id ask those who have the GQ directly.

Thanks for your time!

Most parts, if not all, ate easy to come by for GQ's mate - albeit sometimes a bit pricey, but readily available.

Use the search for painting tips and tricks as I asked the same question recently and got a tonne of responses in there.

Good luck with it!!!

You will get the Vinyls and carpet from a wrecker pretty easy. Its Vinyl though mate! unless its ripped to shreds then you should be able to clean it up and reuse it without any trouble. They are a Hose out car.

There is not much to paint in the interior of a GQ??? I actually cant think of a single piece of paint inside the car?? Maybe my mind is blank? In terms of painting the plastic though if that is what you mean? there is a great thread around here somewhere of a member that painted most of his and it came up a treat. Again unless the parts are broken then paint them up and away you go.

Cheers MR

Well the paint im thinking is under the back matting/vynil.

Maybe just a good clean.

The GQ has a 4.2 turbo diesel DTS Turbo, new 3 inch exhaust, new clutch, new brakes fitted front and back, new alternator and vacuum pump, new radius arms and bushes, 33 x 12.5 steel rims with BF Goodrich Muddies 80%, safari snorkel, 3 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift, steel bull bar

All for 11K

The inside is just a bit rough. So, its a little bit of a put off, but mechanically, it goes very well. Currently searching for paint tips here.

Cheers

if the paint is for under the vinyl or carpet then just Sound Deadening paint with a Brush is the go there bud.

Give everything a good wash and clean up as the interior is pretty hardy.

Sounds like a good car mate, enjoy
