Hi Everyone,

I know its like how long is a piece of string,

We are travelling to the cape in June/ July this year and would appreciate any feedback on how long we should allow to go from Cairns up the old tele track and come back on the devo road, not wanting to hang around forever but have a bit of a look and show the kids the tip of Australia,

Thanks in advance,

Tonks

Hi mate - I would allow at least 10 days - but longer if you can. You could knock it over quicker, however allowing for weather, contingencies, etc you would be safer with 10 days. Others may say different who have done it numerous times, however my thinking is if you are getting up there make the most of it. Check out the following post on a trip we are doing up there in August RLIs Cape York Adventure (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?16669-RLI-s-Cape-York-travelling-Wilburys-tour-August-2013!/page3) on a draft itinerary.

It would also depend on how much time you have spare. The longer the better IMO. Also, are you towing a trailer? If so you have consider packup/setup times daily. South to North up the telegraph is probably a better option as well. Recoveries - It will also depend if you crossing each river/creek and doing all the harder tracks, you will need to take into account the time it takes for recoveries. I'm not sure as I mostly did the easy options as I had no support vehicles.
But, take your time and enjoy !
