Ok so, this happened before but though nothing of it. The car had a funny throttle, kinda jerky and stuff, go the car home and get the kids to bed, went to look at the car now and i HAVE NO THROTTLE, oting, i put the computer on it to have a look and nothing, there is no TP signal at all. I checked the connection, all connected all good.

Anyone had this happen, the computer has not shown any codes as yet, and idles fine too,but nothing can't go anywhere.

Car is going to be towed to the dealer and we will see what they say, i suspect the TP is dead, something gone astray

My tps failed after I drowned her

You really need to check voltages into and out of the tps to know if the tps is at fault or there is no signal voltage from the ecu.

I plugged in my computer through the OBD and the computer is not registering any TPS signal at all, ie the actual input signal. Car has not been drowned at all. LOL.

I have an engine light on but for some reason my Gauge will not register the fault.

Didn't you have trouble from new with the throttle playing up.....Looks like it has finally crapped out for good.

I guess the best thing is that it will now be fixed and you won't the trouble anymore.

Yeah there was somehow strange although not sure if it was TPS related. Yeah from new, every now and then, it would take 10-15mm before the throttle would register.

I guess it was a faulty part ay.

.....you'll get it back and you won't know yourself..... I think it will all be related

I hope so, as long as somehow the lift or the exhaust hasn't affected the warrant on a TPS, LOL (sorry for the siarcasm). Well shes on the back of the truck heading to the dealer, will see what they say.

Humm waiting waiting, dealer said most likely look at it tomorrow, even though it will take 3 seconds to read the error code to get new parts.

I presume it is a manual? I have the same issue as you on occasion. Having to depress the pedel 10-15 mm. I found for some reason it happened if I started letting the cluch out without touching the accelerator, if I was just crawling out of the garage for example. mmmmm

Well Nissan confirmed today, dead TPS, new one should be here tomorrow, yay.

It would be interesting to know if it also stops that surging and that flat accelerator as well. Keep us posted

All good this morning, but only driven 50Kms or so, it normally occured when driving for a while, then stopped and turned engine off waited 5 minutes and came back to the car.

I have 07 auto 3.0 crd with 140k on the clock and mine started surging between 1800 & 2200 rpm regardless of what gear it was in. I cleaned the MAF sensor, replaced the air filter, the fuel filter. Thought the turbo was over boosting, had the experts look at it but still no joy. After reading everything on this forum and others I decided it must be the TPS and bought a complete replacement accelerator assembly (TPS included) from a wrecker put it in and presto, problem immediately solved! Thank you to all those contributors to this and similar threads on the same topic.

I have a feeling my TPS may be a bit dodgy as well.

It's only happened twice so far, but after startup I need to press the accelerator about half way before it registers with the engine and it stays that way until I turn the car off and leave it for 10 minutes or so and fire it back up again then everything is back to normal.

Car is booked in on thursday to be checked over, I'll mention the death of your TPS to them as they haven't heard of anything like it before either.

Will go and see them tomorrow and relay the info about the Tassie failures Wogs, might see if I can convince them to change it as I don't want to risk getting halfway to QLD and suddenly have no go faster peddle.

Did you have any early warning signs, like it happening occasionally and then the final failure or did it just give up and die just the once?

Gotta be Tappy with that!

it did occasionally exhibit strange behaviour in that you would push it half way and nothing happened. Then drove home parked it in the drive way and NOTHING no go fast pedal.

Thanks mate, that's exactly what's happening to me. As I said only twice so far but with an upcoming drive from Bathurst to Noosa in a couple of weeks I don't want to risk getting half way and getting stranded.

can someone put up the drawings for the TPS and ECU and how they communicate and what sensors are involved?

Lonicus

Just heard back from the dealer, they found the TPS to be faulty and have ordered a replacement.

If it wasn't for Wogs, and the forum, I probably wouldn't have even gone to the trouble of having it checked out given that it only happened twice. May have saved me from being stuck in the middle of nowhere on my upcoming drive to QLD!

Cheers guys :)
