View Full Version : My turn..... what's it worth???

Okay so I've been wanting a diesel for a while now and I've started looking, looked into changing mine over but would be too expensive.
So "THE PARTY BUS" is a 92 TI GQ with a TB42E with 308k on the clock.
I'm gonna take my bar, winch and spotties off it before I sell it so it would come with whatever is on the new one when I buy it. Here's what it's got...
6x9 speakers in barn doors, 6.5" splits in front doors all amped
Extractors and 2.5" exhaust
3" lift
windscreen 7 mths old
brake master cylinder 6 mths old
Maxxis AT700 in 265/75R16 5 mths old
New 4 Terrain HD clutch 4 mths old
Front swivel hubs overhauled 1 mth ago
Rear bearing and seals done 1 mth ago
Thinking I'd advertise it at 10k and be happy with 9500??? is that too much???

I think you'd be very lucky to get 9500.
7-8k maybe. They aren't worth much in petrol guise. Ti helps. Have a look on carsales.
Ill be looking at offloading my 97 rx. Having 250,000 on it id still only expect 6-7k

Its worth what ever someone will pay you for it. Gee im a helpful sole

6th January 2013, 05:43 PM
I'd still only offer no more than 7k....... See a pattern here!!!!????? Lol
Maybe it might have something to do with only paying 7k for mine 2 years ago with only 180k on the clock.......
Don't stroke it, TAP it!!!!.....

I can only get 500-600 out of the dual fuel, low on power on hills, it hates water...... Who doesn't like a diesel?

I would like a diesel too, simply can't justify the changeover cost.
My TB42E goes ok, certainly don't need to worry about catching it off boost. Sure it loves a sip and by my rough calculations you'll save about 2000l of fuel per year BUT you need to overcome that changeover cost and you need to take into account the generally higher service and ongoing maintenance costs of the diesel.
If it were me, and I love the GQ's I would probably spend that sort of coin upgrading to a 3L GU for a few more mod-cons and interior space.

15-20k I was quoted from a few placesMate they seen you coming, cost me 1/4 of that to fit the V8,Buy a engine and disel dash cluster and do it yourself the motor will fit straight in just have make sure your fuel lines and tank are clean. If your unsure about wiring it up go and see WOT AUOTMOTIVE in warragul he wired up my 5lt and is one smart cookie.
PS whats wrong with a duel fuel tourer????????
Finding a GQ diesel for under $10,000 would be a mission, also yours is half wayto being set up.

That's the other bit....factor in 3 large for a turbo setup if it doesn't already have one.......'cause if you think a TB42 is slow up hills have a crack at driving a NA TD42.....
You'll be singing the praises of ULP again in no time! LOL.

i love my NA3.0 petrol now, just hate fuel economy.
i'll be honest it runs rings around my mates NA42 diesel although he'd never say plus if it wasnt for the petrol his patrol would be burried in the ocean.
i wont sell it, might get a turbo diesel too later on.
dont think i can sell the Q, been through soo much together already
