Hi all, yesterday I was on my way to bonnie doon to take my best mate and his Lil 2 your old back up after there boat incident, I was driving up the highway past yarra glen, I was going up to hill just before the telangi and king lake turn off, the car was running fine then I lost acceleration so I backed off and reapplied and still had no acceleration, I looked behind the car and a heap of white smoke was pointing out the back end, the car can turn over but the engine shakes like there is a miss fire, I have a gu11 3lt turbo diesel? Has anyone had this happen before? Or dose anyone know what it could be?

Happened yo me in fact.
Sounds like engine failure as mine did the same thing. Start it and let it idle then pull dipstick slowly out. If there's pressure buildup behind it you have holed pistons.

How many km's on the motor?

I will have to check that, I thought it was turbo so I check it and it is fine, it has only done 122000

What MM and jacket said...

"a heap of white smoke" indicates raw diesel so my guess is you have lost compression in 1 or more cylinders. Piston, Head or Head Gasket related methinks

No I just laughed at the uh-oh comment. Nothing sinister meant by it.
I hope it's nothing major.

I didn't feel any pressure behind the dip stick. So I'm going to check the fuel filter

im assuming the engine is blown as i took of the oil filler cap whilst the car was running and there is a lot of pressure there. i am going back to the car dealer that i bought the patrol from

i have done some research on pricing a 4.2 conversion is the cheaper option. i have contacted the dealer to only get pushed away, so i have contacted consumer affairs vic. and looks like it might go to vcat

If the car is still under warranty you are a lucky man..
