I have just bought our 06 Patrol and can anybody tell me what to do when the rubber wears through on the key actuator. Keys work in ignition etc, so dont need to replace either half, just the rubber press piece. Actually I think one "open" pad has worn right through and wrecked the curcuit board click part on one key. Do you just buy the head and get them recoded from Nissan? (surely thats the expensive way) Any help appreciated.

It should be fairly straightforward for you, following the instructions. I have noticed that they have changed the transponder housing for the latest models.....probably due to them wearing out too fast.

I know my old one was only three years old, and showing signs of wear.

Hi guys, just a follow up on this thread. transponder /key finally arrived. Didnt have to reprogram or anything. Just changed the pad side guts and left original back section. Joined together, slotted in the original key and it works a treat. Sorry mister Nissan.
