You can whack some 37s on Walker Evans Bead Locks. SS Snorkel I reckon. At least a 4" lift with maybe Drop arms? I can't say I have seen your thread on P4x4 but I bet it looks nothing like those pics now....

So i needed to transfer rego to vic. . . . which means a RWC.
Few bits to fix, but nothing major. Last pic is in my driveway, that's how it looked the day before being reg'd in vic.

Bhhhaaaaa! Ah sorry Jacket. Popped the baloon. Do your thing mate, I have not seen your white one but have seen a number of your high quality buildups with keen interest and admiration. A bit of envy thrown in there to on occasion.

I remember when you posted pics of a decommissioned Winch Challenge truck you found basically in a paddock!!! Walker Evans and all!! All I could say was "Lucky Lucky Bastard!!"

Can't wait to see this one bud. Post away.

Racebred4wd control arms.
Racebred4wd canister mounts F&R.
Racebred4wd diff lamination.
Racebred4wd drop boxes with gearbox crossmember sliders.
Ironman HD panhard rods F&R.
Racebred4wd steering damper mounts.
Racebred4wd steering draglink.
Racebred4wd rock rod.

3rd January 2013, 05:50 PM
But it took another week or 2(which felt like a month at the time) for my Shocks to arrive. so i drove it around stock. . . . . AGONY!
also at this point i was having to wait for my rear old man emu coils to be made because ARB were clean out of stock.
This is just up the road from my place above Boolarra.

3rd January 2013, 06:00 PM
My shocks arrived, so my suspension and airlocker went in. . . . . . always worth waiting for king smoothies.

Everything went in sweet, a few stripped nuts and de-threaded bolts and studs, but thats the way cookies crumble.
this is the night i picked it up from the workshop after the lift went in.

I had a set of new simex ET2 35/11.50-16's, on Allied 16x8 alloys sitting here, so i decided to throw them on for the time being. this is the morning after the suspension went under it.
I actually really liked the look of these as a wheelset. and the low-speed clearing characteristic's of the 2 lug pede's really worked with the NA td42.

You might be surprised with how man folks are here as well as another forum. The wagon looks good finished so chop chop with pics lol. Hopefully the attitude doesn't carry over to this forum through members of another.

Anyway, where did you get the walker Evans from I'm trying to find a place to source them or did you just buy from over seas?

I buy locally mate. . . . . iv had 3 sets.

So i went around the block to flex it up a bit.

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 08:51 PM
So i drove a bit further round my block and got to some. nearly got stuck on first drive in middle creek. . .

Jacket_1985

at which point i needed sliders. . . . . before my sills got even more caved in!

Jacket_1985

This is when i listed it for sale, i had a bunch more parts ready to go on, but wasn't sure what was happening with my duramax GUIV, i wasn't 100% sure if i needed to cash this in to afford the rest of the conversion.

so i washed it.

Hey jacket, where abouts in Boolarra are you? I live in Thorpdale.

Im actually in yinnar south's postcode. But im between middle creek and morwell river. so in between yinnar and boolarra.

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 10:16 PM
Then i went for a weekend camping in mcalisater river, and got stuck a few clicks above beurgoins.
Epic night, net result in the destruction of 2 of my Allied wheels by river rocks and a leaking rear axle seal.

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 10:26 PM
So getting stuck like i did, and the resultant night i had. . . . . . . i didnt like it.

So i got myself some more power. comprised of:

UFI built td05 18g.
MTQ 3inch exhaust.
DTS manifold.
PWR 600x300x76 front mount intercooler.
2x Optima d31a's.

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 10:32 PM
Got some autometer gauges to watch what my new turbo was up to. . . .
Also got rid of the old wheel and bought a series 2 steering wheel.

Jacket_1985

can i ask why you took the spare off the back and are you going to put a rear bar and swing away spare on

does the spare now sit in the back of the wagon

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 11:10 PM
So i still didnt like the idea of getting stuck with what i had, so i added a winch.

Warn 8274.
Widened, small diameter drum.
Roller bearing end plate.
Gearbox/end plate bracing.
50m of supermax comp rope.
Solid state solenoid.
Warn 9.5xp motor.
R clipped freespool.
Tapped and capped brakeshaft.
Fully waterproof gearbox and motor.
Stainless fairlead.
plus my 2 d31 optima's of course.
with cigweld superflex cables, all ends properly terminated.

3rd January 2013, 11:13 PM
can i ask why you took the spare off the back and are you going to put a rear bar and swing away spare on

Yeah, spare is in the back now if i carry one. . . . too heavy and to big to fit on back door. even normal sized tyres break doors let alone 37's.
other thing is if it did fit, you couldn't see past it. a rear bar would be more for protection than storing my wheel.

Jacket_1985
3rd January 2013, 11:17 PM
also got a stainless snorkel made up somewhere in there. and washed it.

Bought a set of roadies. . . . 33's.
Drove to queensland and back. clicked over 400,000km while i was doing that.
sold 33's because i bought 4.6 diff gears,
and another set of front and rear ARB airlockers.
So i bought some new 17" steelies and whacked a set of my Procomp extreme MT's on em i had sitting here.
Bought GU 11mm fuel pump.
Pulled out my ARB airlocker and looks like its sold already.
waiting on plenum and airbox to get made up.
Now running nothing but 37's. . . . . Procomps for dailys, and comp treps if the going gets tough.

need to get new clutch LOL.

Intercooler fitted. I bought SFS silicone joiners thismorning, not cheap stuff, last time they cost me $14 an inch!!! this time i ebay'd em. . . . .

1x 100mm long straight hose 102mm ID.
1x 500mm long straight hose 76mm ID.

1x 90 degree reducing bend 76mm-51mm ID.

So pulled bullbar back off,
iv flipped the power steering cooler, mounted it behind Intercooler. and just run flexy pipe to the pump i got from enzed
i got new brackets made up to mount cooler a few mm further forward and higher. cooler is now in its final position.
all AC lines cleared perfectly, its bang in the middle, as high as possible and a good depth forward/back.

Next step is to cut the bullbar brackets some more thisavo to get it to clear the 3in cooler pipework. then ill start chopping holes to run the pipes through the Rad support panels.
Iv already taken the PS pipes outta the way and horns etc, shouldnt be to hard.

What you reckon? cut the entire wings off or just cut holes?

Sir Roofy
23rd March 2013, 08:25 AM
If it was mine i would cut holes,a pain in the butt, seems like you have it sorted
are you sure your far enough forward for any debris to clear or be cleared
between the rad and cooler,i know you like mud is this going to be a problem with the cooler

Agree wouldnt wanna give a muddy bank a love tap ay..can the spot mounts be reduced at all?

Spot mounts? i cant mount the intercooler even 5mm further back, the outlet pipe wont clear the Air-con line. and the high mount is bolted flat against the face of the bullbar so that cant go forward.

im going to pull the bullbar off and see if i can grind the mounts a tad. and sit the bar/winch 5-10mm forward. if not, ill chop the whole center of the bar out and make a proper cradle that the winch will sit in, and slip the bar back on. . . . . whats left of the bar anyway. Haha. only other option is remove air con. or get smaller air con condensor.

some knucklehead in a suzuki must have 'cleared' this tree, because the only thing that could fit in that gap is a zuke or a quad.

anyways. as i drove down the track not seeing a thing (6am and it was covered in scrub). . . i hit it at over 40kph, front of the car launched into the air and off the bank. i thought i was going over for a sec. and since i didnt remember what was down that bank (im not that familiar with the spot) i turned left hand down and anticipated a very swift bumpy ride/fall into the riverbed(pretty steep drops out there). but alas i was lucky and got caught broadside on some trees.

spent all morning getting it out. some minor damage. nothing to worry about.

Would have been funny seeing your face while you were going over ...hahahah, OK, maybe not. Glad it wasn't a big drop off and as Roofy said bloody good angle to be on. Glad you're all OK!
What sort of damage did it cop??

Ha, i was wearing my face of Resignation,
-only pushed in a gutter, and banged up the quarter a bit. rear passenger door received an update to an existing dent, and i may have bent a swivel housing. steering needs some attention. still drove it to melbourne yesterday. oh an i pushed the rear window in as i got winched backwards. but i straightened the window sill and put it back in.
ha, whenever i get stuck my winch doesnt seem to save me. this time i couldnt winch forwards at all. so needed another car. last time i stuck it in a river and buried it, i couldnt winch either. nothing to winch off. great way to spend a few grand. buy a winch that hasnt actually saved me yet. HAHA.

Good spot for it. I did that once and had a line to a bayonet fitting on the bullbar.

Is that a fuse holder in the wiring? Don't forget to put another fuse next to the battery.
