Hole in the tank? Or fuel line.
If pumping 30l / 100 into a 4.2 you would notice some smoke...
Id run it on the spot for a bit, give it a few revs then look for wet spots..

Theft or fuel leaks with out black smoke you're not burning it. My old hilux did that turned out fuel pump was leaking bad

It would be a noticeable leak and for your fuel economy to be halved it would be billowing smoke and be noticeably down on power
Does it still rev cleanly, no loss of power?
A worked fuel pump doesn't equate to poor fuel economy unless your foot spends a lot of time on the floor and for economy to work out to 30/100 you would have to be running 40" tyres.
