Morning All,
After doing the r/h wheel bearing on my 95 Gq i have noticed when you put it into 4wd when r/h or l/h down on sterring that it clicks as if not locking in properly.it does not do this in 2wd.after driving to work this morning i noticed that the r/h hub is much warmer than the l/h hub.any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers in advance

Could be free wheeling hub or cv

Hi mate.

Most likely a CV which you will only hear in 4wd at full lock while moving.

The warm hub is on the side you worked on so likely your wheel bearings bedding in (was this the first drive?) or wheel bearings too tight?? What tension did you set them at?

Also, when starting a new thread with a question please only start one thread. If its n the wrong spot then a Mod will move it for you otherwise we end up with lots and lots of repeat threads.

Cheers MR

cheers mad runner.ok i tightened whell bearings to manaul specs but felt this was to tight as i could not move the rotor at all.was bout 105nM that we tightened to.have gone for a drive then retightened again but specs in manaul i feel is just way to tight.i was always taught with wheel bearings to tighten as tight as i could then back of 1/4turn.on first drive hub was cool until put into 4wd mode then after hearing the clicking was extremely hot.pulled hub off again and repacked with grease and again clicking sounds in 4wd.is it possible to drive still without further damage??also if you turned shaft yrself while hub locked in should both sides turn or only one because of LSD?thanks again and any further or new advice would be great.

Ok. I have made exactly that same error. You have read the manual wrong bud. 105nm to preload. Spin the wheel to bed in. Undo and re tighten to about 15nm I think from memory. Check the manual again mate. Don't drive. Way to right. You might find the click is the locating washer being eaten rather than the CV.

First things first. Sort out he wheel bearings
