What are you wanting to achieve? There are plenty of options available. You could use a GU TD42 or ZD30 airbox (cylindrical style) as they bolt straight into GQ's and GU's. There are a few companies doing them now too. Check out Patrol Docta, Millweld, FatzFAb and also Radius Fab on here can do custom airboxes.

Chester locally you've got Precision Alloy in Korrumburra that do custom jobbies, I was talking to the bloke there for a while.

In gunna fit a crusier one in for the bulk air volume,i reckon a zd30 or a TD42 one wil be too small for the V8,i have seen GQ's with V8's fitted using a Zd30 airbox and one on the Dyno it just is not getting enough air flow.

What V8? If you can somehow mount a panel filter from a LS series engine that would be the best.

chesterDepending on how much and where your doing it there wont be to much of a drama. As the patrol has a full chassis the front skirts aren't overly structual like a car. My old GQ had most of the struts removed to fit coil overs and to fit 42s without scrubing. It was driven reguarly on road like this (on 37s) and there was never a drama. Although my batteries where mounted elsewhere. If you have a battery mounted to the skirt or anything else heavy that would require you to move it. You can also get a bit of 10mm round bar or similar and bend it around the section your removing and tack it on. This will actually make it stronger then it was before you removed any of the skirt. Again it depends how much your removing but running a piece of 25mm tube or similar across the skirt to work as a stiffener will keep your radiator support panel firm as well. Again this depends on how much your removing.

Cheers Mick.
