can anyone tell me how much a secondhand carby in good condition for a 4.2 TB is worth A guy wants to sell me one alone with a fairly new fuel pump for 500, is that a good or bad price?

Seems a bit expensive.
What condition is it in?

Has it been refurbish or just pulled off a motor.

How desperate are you for a carby?

Pulled off a motor, but he said it was running well...
plus he will throw in a near new fuel pump....I know when I was looking at having to send my carby off for a recon, i would be with out a car unless I had a spare, but getting mine fully reconed would be 500-600
So basically want to know if he is ripping me off?

Cant find secondhand carbys anywhere hence why looking at getting this one...!!!

As you've said, you can get yours fully rebuilt for about the same as the guy is charging. Downside is that you're without a car but the upside is that you end up with a perfect carby with a known history.

I bought a second hander in reasonable nick for about 80 bucks three months ago for the same reason, so I can get it reco'd and put it in my car.

You can get a fully rebuilt patrol carby and have money left to go towards an electronic ignition module for that price. Personally id go that way.

reco carby should only be about $300, put a thread/add on the forum, someone is bound to have a carby sitting around, even if it is for a short borrowed period whilst your carby is in the shop being rebuilt, never know till you ask
